Surf and Weather

People joke that the weather reports in Hawaii are always the same, “82 degrees, partly cloudy with a chance of showers.”  While it is true that Hawaiian temperatures don’t have a wide range, rarely reaching the 90’s and barely getting below the 70’s, there are definitely seasonal trends in the weather and the surf.  If you are planning to travel to Kauai, make sure that you plan your stay accordingly;  Know if you want to stay on the sunny side (south shore) or the lush north shore.  Do you plan on snorkeling?  The northwestern part of the islands experience large and tumultuous surf during the winter and the south sides get swells in the summer.  There are many resources online that can educate you to the seasonal differences and also update you on daily weather.
